At the moment, there is fab skiing in all the Scottish resorts! After the dry and windy start to the season there has finally been enough snow and cold weather for all 5 of the Scottish Ski resorts to open in recent days. Scotland has 5 main ski areas: Glenshee, Cairngorm Mountain, the Lecht, Glencoe and Nevis Range. Guests can reach all of these as a day trip from Croft Holidays, with Cairngorm Mountain being the nearest resort and Glencoe the furthest. Both Nevis Range and the Lecht are about an hour away.
The photograph shows Cairngorm Mountain last Sunday evening with the light on the main ski area in the bowl to the left. We only had time to go up in the afternoon and did a mix of on and off piste skiing. I think I have seldom seen so many people on the summit of Cairngorm! The snow on the upper runs and off piste was excellent, though the lower area was rather thin.
It is advisable to book in advance at the moment, particularly at weekends, as ski tickets may be limited. All the tickets on Cairngorm Mountain had sold out, but it still didn’t seem that busy in the afternoon on the upper runs, and there was no queuing. You can buy tickets online in advance, which guarantees your place on the lovely snowy runs! This is the link for Cairngorm https://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/.
After two years of almost no skiing due to Covid, it has been a real treat to get back onto the pistes. Last weekend was beautiful, with cold but sunny weather and beautiful clear views. We still have some availability for the second half of March so book your stay at Croft Holidays now!
