As well as the cottages, Anne and Ian also run an art gallery in Kingussie. The Kingussie flat is located just above the gallery, while the Croft Holidays cottages are 3 miles away in Newtonmore. Anne is a fused glass artist while Ian enjoys photography, and is just turning his hand to wood carving. The gallery is Chapel House Arts, situated at 100 High Street, Kingussie, PH21 1HY, and it houses Anne’s fused glass business, known as Fused and Light. You can see more about it on her website www.fusedandlight.co.uk.
The gallery shows a changing selection of fine art by both local and visiting artists, mainly landscapes. There is also a wide selection of high quality craft goods including glass, ceramics, jewellery, tweed, and wood. Of course there is a lot of Anne’s fused glass pieces there too. Anne is largely self taught, but usually attends a master class in glass fusing each year to hone her skills. She makes a wide selection of pieces from small jewellery to large bowls. This lockdown she has been making a smack of 3D glass jellyfish!
The photograph shows a painting by Clare Blois from our current reopening exhibition, as we are now open after 5 months of closure due to Covid. It is a stunning oil, which makes you feel you are right there on a heather covered mountain. Clare is based in Beauly, but shows her work all over the Highlands. You can find out more about Clare here https://www.clareblois.co.uk/ We have around 10 of her paintings on show, as well as a few pieces by each of our regular gallery artists and photographers.
The art gallery is normally open 1-5 pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 10-1 pm on a Sat. Anne also runs a wide variety of glass fusing courses on demand.
