We have a new attraction in the neighbourhood: Alpacas! Cairngorm Alpaca Trekking is based in the farm 200m from the cottages. This May our neighbour Jenni launched her new venture with four young male alpacas: Kevin, Rocky, Cloud and Teddy. They are really cute and cuddly, though do spit occasionally! Apparently they have vastly different temperaments, with Teddy the most laid back, and Kevin the most dynamic of the beasts.
Guests are welcome to meet the alpacas in one of two ways. Meet and Greet sessions last 30 mins (£8), and in this time you can cuddle the animals, learn a bit about them, feed them and even have a brief wander round the paddock.
Visit and trek sessions are longer, lasting an hour (£20), but this also allows you to walk leading your own alpaca round the farmland. Enjoy the stunning vistas of the Cairngorm mountains in the company of a cuddly alpaca, what more is there to life?
These experiences are suitable for all ages, though you need to be 5 or older for the trek. If the set dates and arrangements don’t suit, Jenni will be happy to tailor an event for you.
