Snow!

Since the latest lockdown started there have been some fantastic snow conditions locally, which has been great for us but no doubt very frustrating for you as potential guests! There are lots of opportunities for all sorts of snowy pastimes here, from downhill skiing to ski touring to sledging to ice skating to walking to photography! At the moment Cairngorm Mountain remains shut due to covid but ski touring conditions have been excellent with fantastic powder. There is touring from the village, in the Feshie or Drumochter hills , Creag Meagaidh or in the Cairngorms. Anotherwords in every direction from here!

For photographers, the winter light offers some spectacular opportunities. There are great ice and snow features and colours. The recent ban on culling mountain hares will allow numbers of hares to increase. They are always so curious , particularly when you approach them on skis! Of course there are deer, sheep and mountain birds. The photograph shown here shows the setting of our house nestling below A’ Chailleach, our local mountain.
