There can be few areas in Scotland to offer such a wide variety of golf courses to the visitor. Each of the courses has its own individual character, some are flat and wooded, nestling in the valley, and surrounded with imposing mountains in the distance. Others are up in the lower slopes of the hills and are undulating and a bit more energetic, with magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. There are numerous courses in the
district and all welcome visitors. While it is advisable to book,
especially during late July and August, it is not always necessary
depending on what time of day you prefer to play. Handicap certificates
are not necessary for normal play but if you wish to enter any of the
open competitions, a certificate may be necessary. Several of the courses have their own ‘golf week’ the relaxed camaraderie of which is greatly enjoyed by visitors. If you want accommodation for these weeks it is advisable to book early, particularly Newtonmore Golf Week, which begins on the first Saturday in August each year. |
